Signs and Symptoms

What are the Signs and Symptoms of NPC?

In the early stages, nasopharyngeal cancer usually shows no symptoms. Therefore, it is very difficult to identify and treat when it would be most manageable. In fact, most patients around the world are eventually diagnosed with NPC, only after finally going to their doctor for the first time to be examined for the disease – 80% already have Late Stage cancer and 60% of patients are diagnosed the first time with a neck lump, where cancer has metastasized in the lymph nodes.

Most people seek medical attention when NPC is in the advanced stages. Noticeable symptoms of the disease are quite varied, and may include:

  • A lump in your neck caused by a swollen lymph node
  • Bloody discharge from your nose or the back of your throat
  • Nasal congestion on one or both sides of your nose
  • Hearing loss in one ear
  • Frequent ear infections
  • Headaches
  • Double vision
  • Face and neck pain
