NP Screen is a simple; highly sensitive and specific genetic based screening test kit for the detection of Nasopharyngeal Cancer. This genetic test allows people to determine whether or not they have the disease at a very early stage. Thereby improving their chances for a successful recovery. An innovative paradigm shift in the effective management of Nasopharyngeal Cancer by early detection.

Mission Statement

Establish NP Screen™ as the precision standard for the early detection of nasopharyngeal cancer, and improve the quality of life and survival rates of individuals at risk for NPC worldwide. Continue to develop innovative screening technologies and conduct clinical studies in order to develop even more sensitive and quantifiable standards for the diagnosis of disease.

Dr. Phillips graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School and obtained his fellowship in Plastic Surgery. He further subspecialized in Craniofacial Surgery and was a facial trauma surgeon at the Sunnybrook medical Centre in Toronto. He subsequently became Medical Director of the Craniofacial Program at The Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Phillips has been actively involved in the teaching and development of cranio-maxillofacial courses as well as design and development of surgical tools on a national and international level. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at The University of Toronto and has extensive publications (75 papers at international meetings and 34 peer-reviewed articles, 17 book chapters) and experience in handling regulatory issues on launching medical devices in North America. He will contribute to the IP in areas of products design and developments; all regulatory and related issues as well as being the main liaison person between the medical and scientific community.

Dr. Ng is an Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgeon, and he graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School and obtained his Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and Oncology from the University’s School of Graduate Study and acquired extensive experience in clinical and laboratory data collection and analyses. He was involved in the original EBV DNA research with a team of researchers from Mount Sinai Hospital and Hospital for Sick Children and was one of the co-authors on the publications on this subject. As a surgeon, he performed over 60,000 cases of endoscopy and treated and managed hundreds of cases of NPC. He developed the concept of trans-oral access to the Nasopharynx. He also designed, planned and conducted the clinical trial during the development phase of NP Screen™. He has treated well over 90,000 Chinese in Toronto from high-risk endemic areas for various ENT related illnesses, and is well recognized in the community for his experience in management of NPC.

Dr. Erik Avaniss-Aghajani

Dr. Avaniss-Aghajani is a principal scientist at the Primex Laboratory and has years of experience in molecular genetics. He was a professor in the Division of Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles and has extensive publications on the subject of Q-PCR process. He established the Q-PCR laboratory protocol and completed the validation study for the IP and will remains as chief scientific advisor for the company. In addition to that role, he will help setup company operated regional PCR laboratories in various regions of the world for the IP.

Dr.-Patrick-J.-Gullane

Dr. Gullane was born in Ireland and received his MB Degree from Galway University in 1970. He then embarked on a surgical career obtaining his Fellowship in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in 1975. In 1976, he was Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and pursued advanced training in Head and Neck Oncology with Dr. Sebastian Arena in Pittsburgh, Drs. John Conley and Marquis Converse in New York. Since the completion of his training, he has held numerous Academic positions and, in 1983, he was recruited to the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto. He is known worldwide for his innovation in the management of patients with head and neck cancers. He has published more than 250 peer-reviewed papers and nine books on the subject of head and neck surgery. The international recognition of his expertise was demonstrated by his selection as a faculty member in the 1st Educational World Tour of the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies. In 2010, Dr. Gullane was appointed as a Member to the Order of Canada.

Professor Wei graduated in 1974 with an M.B.B.S. from The University of Hong Kong. In 1979, he obtained the F.R.C.S.E. in general surgery, followed by F.A.C.S. in 1984 and F.R.C.S.E. in otorhinolaryngology in 1986. Professor Wei was granted Fellowship of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in both otorhinolaryngology and surgery in 1995 and 1997, respectively. In recognition of his distinguished achievements, Professor Wei was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000 and awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2003, Honorary Fellowship of the Hong Kong College of Otorhinolaryngologists in 2005, Honorary Fellowship of the German Society of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery in 2006, and Honorary Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons in 2010.
He is active in his clinical research pursuits, holding memberships in 26 academic and serving on editorial boards of 41 international academic journals. Professor Wei has served on many professional bodies. He is the founding President of the Hong Kong College of Otorhinolaryngologists and was President, on two occasions, of the Hong Kong Head and Neck Society. He has been Director of the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncology Societies since 2010. Currently Professor Wei is Assistant Medical Superintendent, Head of Department of Surgery, and Director of Li Shu Pui ENT Head & Neck Surgery Centre at the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital.

He will be the chief medical advisor and guide the company through all future medical product designs, research and development planning. He will be the lead person in coordinating all clinical studies and manage submission of all clinical data and information to various regulatory agencies including US and China Food and Drug Administration.

Dr. Phillips’s primary function is to oversee various areas of product designs and developments, including developing clinical trial protocols for the research and development phase of new products. Dr. Phillips will also be responsible for various quality assurance programs in all regulatory submission processes. Dr. Phillips will be main liaison person between the company and the medical, scientific communities.

Mr. Leo Chui

Mr. Chui has over 15 years of experience in the Electronic Manufacturing Services Industry and various entrepreneurial experiences both domestically and internationally. He has experience in various aspects of the business from Process Engineering, Program Management, Account Management, Supply Chain, and Operation Management to Business System implementation across business units. Leo earned his Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of British Columbia with a focus in Industrial Engineering. He has also obtained his certification as IPC EMS Program Management. He led the facility through ISO13485 and ITAR registration and successfully launched a number of multi million dollar projects in different industry sectors (military, medical, industrial, commercial, and etc.). Mr. Chui has experience ranging from customer and supplier contract negotiations, projects implementation to operations management. Mr. Chui will take the leading role as the chief operating officer for the company overseeing the initiation of all operation logistics and processes.
